Best Tropical Latin Album
This is the second album recorded with the formidable Roberto Delgado & amp; Orchestra. As the album title indicates, this recording is a tribute to the 1950s jazz and Latin jazz big bands, many of which were influenced by Cuban music big bands.
This is my second album of songs with Roberto Delgado & amp; Orchestra. What a pleasure it gives me to have lived the development of this Panamanian band, since our first international presentation in Toluca, Mexico!!
By deciding to add more instruments to the arrangements, I seek to recover the powerful sound of the "Big Bands" of the 50's, from Stan Kenton, to Machito and his Afro Cubans, with Mario Bauza.
Icons such as Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez and Willie Rosario, from Puerto Rico, made that sound a personal mark, inspired in turn by the glorious Big Bands of Cuba, from the Casino de la Playa Orchestra, to Havana Riverside.
Roberto Delgado more than corroborates his quality and taste as an arranger. Each musician in the orchestra demonstrates their ability and professionalism, raising their already proven international status to a new level.
"What band plays like this today" I ask in one of the songs on this album.m.
¿The answer Roberto Delgado & amp; Orchestra..
And we are from Panama!
